1 – The KOUTOUBIA

Built by the Almohad in 40 years (from 1150) with simple shapes, sophisticated design. The Koutoubia is considered one of the finest monuments in the Maghreb. It served as a model of the Giralda in Seville and the Hassan Tower in Rabat.

2- Place Jemaa El Fna

Jemaa el Fna is the heart of the city. Listed as Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by the UNESCO. It is famous for its space, its attendance and atmosphere. It’s an absolute pleasure for pedestrians. It is a place for meetings and shows, with shops and eateries offering food and drink. The party at Jemaa el Fna starts in the evening.

3- The Menara gardens

In order to enjoy peace and quiet, the Menara gardens are the right place to reach your aim. The Almohad erected a harmonious pavilion in the nineteenth century. It is reflected on the bottom of High Atlas in a large pool of water surrounded by a large garden with olive trees.

4- The Saadian tombs

Near Bab Agnaou, the Saadian Tombs are a royal necropolis (the fourteenth to the sixteenth century) with columns of Italian marble and domed wooden carved cedar.

5- Palace BAHIA

It is historical monument that is known for its rich architecture. Its construction is recent (19th century) and was inspired from Arabic and Andalusian styles.

6- The souks

The Mediana Souks are the best place to have an idea about the wealth of the Marrakchi craft and meet talented craftsmen. These souks are organized in guilds: Cherratine souk for leather goods, Zrabi for carpets, Fekharine for pottery, Sebbaghine for dyers, Seffarine for brass …

7- The Majorelle Garden

This enchanting place was created by the French painter Jacques Majorelle who settled there in 1922. It is a symphony of lights and colors, flowers and exotic plants, birds singing and water jets. The painter used the Deco Art architecture to paint the walls. This blue garden keeps impressing a lot of people. Yet, it is rather the magic of the Marrakech blue sky!
